Aberrance

SYNOPSIS: City dwellers Erkhmee and Selenge arrive at an old cabin deep in the Mongolian wilds, only for a sense of foreboding to settle over the couple. Erkhmee’s seemingly keen desire to provide a safe and nurturing space for his artistic wife is at odds with the violent actions and mannerisms their quizzical neighbor observes. As the neighbor digs deeper for the reason behind this aberrant behavior, only more questions and trouble arise.

Baatar Batsukh is a highly accomplished Mongolian cinematographer renowned for his daring and groundbreaking use of colors and angles. Baatar has worked as a cinematographer on 27 films over the past 15 years. His innovative shots, lighting, and exciting execution in each film are a recognized brand in Mongolian cinema. He was responsible for the breathtaking cinematography on The Steed, which was a large reason it was Mongolia's official Oscar selection in 2019. Baatar's work on the Steed also garnered his official recognition from the American Society Of Cinematographers. Aberrance, his directorial debut, exploded into Mongolian theaters and the world stage last year, making big fans of both audiences and critics alike. Having its European Premiere at the Oldenburg International Film Festival, known as the "Sundance" of Europe, and taking the Audacity in Cinema Award shortly after that, Aberrance had Its North American premiere at the world Renowned South By SouthWest film festival in the prestigious Midnighters section. Baatar uses his cinematography skills to inform his frenetic directing style and bring a unique voice to all the films he applies his singular artistry to.
