Chung Ji Young

Director

Director Chung Ji Young, who made his debut in 1983, has swept major film awards both domestically and internationally with notable works such as North Korean Partisan In South Korea, White Badge, Life Of Hollywood Kid, Unbowed, Namyeong-Dong 1985, and black money. He has not only presented numerous highly discussed films but has also continuously delved into the darker aspects of our society through documentary productions like Project Cheonan Ship, Dancing With Jikji, And State-Authorized Textbook. This year marks the 40th anniversary of his debut in the Korean film industry. He is a master of Korean cinema and a currently active director. Chung seeks to connect with the audience through his latest film, The Boys.

Yi Han

Yi Han is a multiple award-winning film producer, with expertise in International Co-Production, Strategic Marketing and Distribution of China-related independent films. Her producer work includes acclaimed feature documentaries "Better angels", "China Heavyweight" and "Last train home". Her director debut "In My Eyes" was in competition at the 2018 Shanghai International Film Festival. She holds a Masters Degree in Journalism from Carleton University, Canada.

Jeong Sang-min

Producer

Jeong Sang-min, CEO of Aura Pictures, has been a professional assistant director in box office hits after the 2000s. Starting from the director Lee Changdong’s “Oasis” in 2002, he participated as an assistant director of numerous box office hits, such as “Once upon a Time in a Battlefield” (2003), “The President’s Last Bang” (2005), “Shadows in the Palace” (2007), “Chaw” (2009). Besides, he had directed “Dissection of Poverty” in 2006, which is one the episode of the superaction’s series “Dasepo Naughty Girl”.

After establishing Aura Pictures with director Chung Ji-young in 2008, he produced “Unbowed”, “National Security” in 2012, produced and invested in the documentary film “Project Cheonan Ship”, and garnered significant attention by producing the films providing a scathing critique of social injustice. “The Boys” released in 2023 is based on ‘Samnye Nara Supermarket Case’, which is the true story of the three boys accused as the suspects of robbery, and ask for the justice surrounding our society.

Ellen Y.D. KIM

Ellen Y.D. Kim is a producer and festival organizer who has wide experience at various fields in film industry since 1996, including international marketing, festival programming, film market managing and film producing. She was the programmer of Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (a.k.a PIFAN then, BIFAN now) from 2001 to 2004. Besides working as a festival programmer, she founded an arthouse production house Flying Tiger Pictures and co-produced “Cry Woman” by Liu Bingjian in 2002, and produced “Hanaan” by Ruslan Pak in 2011, “Sewing Sisters” by Hyukrae Lee and Jungyoung Kim in 2020.

After launching the first edition of Asian Film Market in 2006, she co-produced “Night and Day” by Hong Sang-soo in 2008, and “Come Rain, Come Shine” by Lee Yoon-ki in 2011 at bom Film Productions, one of the top production house in Korea. She worked as managing director of Zamie Pictures and developed innovative genre films projects and acquired/distributed foreign art-house films including “My Back Page” by Nobuhiro Yamashita, “Tyrannosaur” by Paddy Considine. Currently she is working as a program director of Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival again since 2016.

Yi Jongho

After graduating from Sungkyunkwan University with a degree in German language and literature, Jongho started working in the production department at Myung Film, a leading Korean film production company. After serving many years as a production director and producer, Jongho and partners founded TPS Company in 2007, which at the time was the first company in Korea to combine production and production services. Jongho founded the independent production company Viva Film in 2018 and has 2 feature films co-produced. Black Money (2019) and the yet to be released film The Boy (2023).

Vahagn Khachatryan

Director

Vahagn Khachatryan was born in Yerevan, in 1991. At the age of seventeen, he moved to China. From 2008-2014 he studied Filmmaking at the Beijing Film Academy, where he shot several documentaries and received the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for Masters in Documentary. For the last ten years Vahagn Khachatryan has been working as a programmer and the assistant director at the Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival. Between 2014 and 2016 he was part of the DOC Nomads Programme, making documentaries in the three European countries part of the programme : ULHT - Lusófona University (Portugal), SZFE - University of Theatre and Film Arts (Budapest, Hungary), LUCA - School of Arts / College Sint Lukas (Brussels, Belgium). He shot Phone Booth (2014) in Portugal, This is not a Pipe (2015) in Hungary, Lost Dream (2016) in Belgium. These films were shown in several film festivals around the world. The Moon The Sun And The Musketeers is his latest documentary which premiered at the Visions Du Réel in Switzerland and shown at film festivals such as DOK Leipzig, Taiwan IDFF, Moscow IFF, Cinemateca Uruguaya, San Francisco and 30 more International film festivals, winning several awards.

Aren Malakyan

Director

Director Aren Malakyan was born in Vanadzor, Armenia. In 2015 he graduated Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography, Faculty of Feature Films.

During his years of study he participated in an international workshop organized by Lodz Film Academy in Yerevan. In frames of the "World: From Dusk till Dawn" workshop Aren shot his first short documentary "Grandma & Grandpa". His graduation film "Girl On The Moon" received the prize of the President of Republic of Armenia in 2015, as well as several prizes at international film festivals, including Bastau IFF, New Wave IFF and Fresco IFF. It won the Best Film award at Web Apricot Yerevan Festival.

Since then Aren directed the Mini-TV Series "Special Department" for Armenian Public Television in 2015 and the short film "Snow" which premiered at Shanghai International Film Festival.

Stefanie Arianne

Stefanie Arianne was born and raised in the Philippines to a Filipino mother and a Japanese father.She dreamed of becoming an actress from an early age and moved to Japan at the age of 18 to gain her acting and stage experience.

Since then, she has appeared in many works such as advertisements, television, and movies in Japan.

In 2022, she appeared in the movie "PLAN75" as Maria. The film was screened at the 75th Cannes Film Festival which won the Camera d'Or Special Mention Award. In 2023, She won Best Supporting Actress at the Malaysian International Film Festival.

Baatar Batsukh

Cinematographer, director

Baatar Batsukh is a highly accomplished Mongolian cinematographer renowned for his daring and groundbreaking use of colors and angles. Baatar has worked as a cinematographer on 27 films over the past 15 years. His innovative shots, lighting, and exciting execution in each film are a recognized brand in Mongolian cinema. He was responsible for the breathtaking cinematography on The Steed, which was a large reason it was  Mongolia's official Oscar selection in 2019. Baatar's work on the Steed also garnered his official recognition from the American Society Of Cinematographers. Aberrance, his directorial debut, exploded into Mongolian theaters and the world stage last year, making big fans of both audiences and critics alike. Having its European Premiere at the Oldenburg International Film Festival, known as the "Sundance" of Europe, and taking the Audacity in Cinema Award shortly after that, Aberrance had Its North American premiere at the world Renowned South By SouthWest film festival in the prestigious Midnighters section. Baatar uses his cinematography skills to inform his frenetic directing style and bring a unique voice to all the films he applies his singular artistry to.

Battumur Dorj

Mr. Battumur Dorj, after graduation from the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture as an actor in 2002, acted in more than 50 stage productions. He has worked in film industry since 2010, has been playing the lead and supporting roles in more than 30 films. In 2011, he produced his first film and until now worked as a producer for a 10 films. His directorial debut Trio was very successful. He wrote the script himself and played the main role himself, driven by the feeling of experiencing the difficult times he experienced himself. With the film "Trio", he aims to establish the connection between mother nature and humanity. Also, the film Trio was released at the headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva, the largest human rights organization, on the 23rd of 2023.

Amarsaikhan Baljinnyam

Actor, writer, director Amra /Amarsaikhan Baljinnyam/ is the only filmmaker who won 3 times of the Best Actor nomination from the Mongolian Academy awards and the first Mongolian actor who stepped in Hollywood by his role as Ariq Boke (Khubilai Khan’s brother) in the Netflix original series The Marco Polo. 

In 2022, Ministry of foreign Affairs selected him as Mongolian Cultural Envoy based on his continuous and enormous contribution in Mongolian modern cinema by his art of filmmaking.
His first scriptwriting work “Faith” drama feature won the Best picture at the Mongolian Cinema awards and “Audience awards” at the Asian World Film Festival in Los Angeles.

He worked as a co-writer and lead actor in the “Under the turquoise sky”, co-production of Mongolia and Japan. This film selected as the Opening film of the 68th Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival where It won the “New Talent award” and “FIPRESCI International Film Critique award”.
He co-produced and starred as one of the leads, THE MONGOLAIN CONNECTION, action feature that is co-production of Mongolia-Kazakhstan-US in 2019. This film won the Outstanding action feature and Outstanding fight choreography awards at the festival in Buffalo, New York.

His first directing debut “Harvest moon” drama feature has selected an official Mongolian entry for 95th Academy awards. It’s world premiere held at the Vancouver International Film Festival’s Vanguard session and it won the Audience award there.
“MONGOL” epic adventure drama feature is his second directorial debut released in May 2023 in Mongolia. It has became all time highest grossing blockbuster in Mongolia named by the Mongolian National Cinema union by 2023.

Writer and Director Galbayar Dashkhuu worked as a writer and director of more than 20 films. In 2009, he started his career as a director with the film "Love Record". In addition, he initiated the program "Focus on cinema news, the theater arts program "Grand stage", the "TV Cocktail", and the talk show "Tipsy talk". Also he has made a number of documentary films and music videos. He also played the lead role in the "Kinosutra" series, where he worked as a writer and director.

Nomin Lkhagvasuren

Journalist, director

Nomin Lkhagvasuren is a Mongolian journalist who worked as reporter and editor for local and international publications and news services. Nomin also worked for international and local press freedom and human rights organizations and journalism training institutes. She served the United Nations and its agencies as communications consultant. Currently, Nomin is a freelance journalist and filmmaker and communications consultant on energy efficiency projects in Mongolia. Nomin performed as researcher, translator and script consultant on a number of international film projects. The Wheel (Khürd) is Nomin's debut in documentary filmmaking.
