Harvest Moon

SYNOPSIS: When his father gets seriously ill, Tulgaa who works as a chef in the city, travels back to his village. Soon the father dies, and he decides to stay to fulfill the harvesting his father promised to do. While working in the field he meets a ten years old boy, Tuntuulei, who lives alone with his grandparents while his single mother works in the city. The sharing and the relation between Tulgaa and Tuntuulei make them challenge their own self.

Actor, writer, director Amra /Amarsaikhan Baljinnyam/ is the only filmmaker who won 3 times of the Best Actor nomination from the Mongolian Academy awards and the first Mongolian actor who stepped in Hollywood by his role as Ariq Boke (Khubilai Khan’s brother) in the Netflix original series The Marco Polo.
In 2022, Ministry of foreign Affairs selected him as Mongolian Cultural Envoy based on his continuous and enormous contribution in Mongolian modern cinema by his art of filmmaking.
His first scriptwriting work “Faith” drama feature won the Best picture at the Mongolian Cinema awards and “Audience awards” at the Asian World Film Festival in Los Angeles.
He worked as a co-writer and lead actor in the “Under the turquoise sky”, co-production of Mongolia and Japan. This film selected as the Opening film of the 68th Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival where It won the “New Talent award” and “FIPRESCI International Film Critique award”.
He co-produced and starred as one of the leads, THE MONGOLAIN CONNECTION, action feature that is co-production of Mongolia-Kazakhstan-US in 2019. This film won the Outstanding action feature and Outstanding fight choreography awards at the festival in Buffalo, New York.
His first directing debut “Harvest moon” drama feature has selected an official Mongolian entry for 95th Academy awards. It’s world premiere held at the Vancouver International Film Festival’s Vanguard session and it won the Audience award there.
“MONGOL” epic adventure drama feature is his second directorial debut released in May 2023 in Mongolia. It has became all time highest grossing blockbuster in Mongolia named by the Mongolian National Cinema union by 2023.
